    Today is a GREAT day!!!!

I just found out that DH and I were approved for our itinerary we put in for the Wonderland Trail (Mount Rainier Nat'l Park Trip) in August. They way the Nat'l parks do it is...you have to give them a list of your backcountry camping sites/days and basically let them know where you will be on the trail and staying to camp each night. Then, they say OK or No, that is not going to work at all.

Since we plan to go at the busy time of year we have been nervous we may have to change it around. We were both already approved at work for the time off so, it just makes it easier not to have to switch things around.

Also, with the threat of the goverment being shut down and maybe, not even being able to go at all......it is definitely a good Monday for us to hear this news.

Neato! DH and I have a trip beginning on April 23rd to Zion and Bryce Canyon NPs, so like you, we were REALLY relieved when the budget mess got sorted out (or at least I think it's sorted out).

I can't even believe what I read about it....... if they did close the National Parks down. That they would not even allow cyclists in the parks.

....but crisis averted so all is good

I had a thorough discussion about this topic on another forum I frequent. Several people encouraged us to trespass, which I flatly refused to do. One of the members of the forum used to run a B&B outside of Zion. During the last government shutdown, he said that Zion was patrolled by law enforcement, so there's no gettin' 'round the fact that the parks were closed.

But, yes, crisis averted...at least until next year.
