    That was very funny. It is very amusing to hear comments like this coming from non-cyclists. When I tell people when I ride a century ride they ask how many days that it take.

    That is really funny.

    But it also shows that many people view bike riding as transportation- like riding to work or riding to the store or just around the neighborhood for fun or errands. They haven't really thought about someone riding a bike with the goal of putting on mileage....with no 'destination'. I remember when I started riding after about 40 years off the bike....I thought it was pretty weird for people to put their bike in their car and then drive to someplace just so they could ride around 'aimlessly'. With no purposeful destination to go to, no errand. In a way, I still think that's a slightly odd thing to do, even though I now totally understand why it's done.

    I love it! Laughed out loud too.

    I remember posting on facebook a bunch of miles I rode one time. Someone replied that they drove that far in their car and wondered if that counted.
