Oh Nina! So sorry about your husband's injury. I wish him well. I'm coming off collarbone surgery so know how hard it is to stay off the bike and mend. But hold him back and make him get well first before he climbs back on a bike.

I used to love riding the strand between Santa Monica and Palos Verde. On a good day I would go up and ride around PV. My favorite route was towards Malaga/Lunada Bay to San Pedro and back around. Easier climbs. I also loved to ride to SM - stopping in Venice (to people watch of course) and enjoying lunch.

Do you and your husband have a favorite bike shop? If so, why? The shops here in OC have gotten all funky so I looking to find another shop that carries more and not specific product (here the shops are now all Trek or all Cannondale, etc.).
