I was thinking "Il Falco" - the falcon - for the name. More in keeping with the Kestrel family.

Falcons: Merlin (a beautiful small falcon), Peregrine (means wanderer) or Gyr (short for Gyrfalcon, although they are very pale colored). Peregrine's are the darkest of the three species.
