Good luck! Let us know how the half goes!

As for me, I ran on Wednesday, but I felt really blah. I'd already worked out once at lunch--my usual weekly toning class. I had an okay lunch, but I could have benefited from a late afternoon snack. Lesson learned.

I'm in a recovery week and only running 2 miles at a time; hardly seems worth the effort
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Last night was my first 5K race ever. It was a really fun evening St. Patty's day run. My goal going in was to be a little bit faster than my normal running pace of about 11:20 per mile.

I was super excited when I got my time of 30:49 with 9:55 mile pace! Yay! Not too shabby for a girl that couldn't even run 1/4 mile without searing pain only a few months ago.

I had a lot of fun. I'm so so glad I've put so much effort into figuring out my proper running form.

I've signed up for a 4 mile trail race in a few weeks.

Congrats on a great race! It's amazing what you can do when the competition starts and the adrenaline is flowing.

Thanks guys. I was really surprised that i was able to do it that fast. I couldn't take a complete breath the entire race though so I've made an appointment with my family doctor to see if maybe I have exercise induced asthma. I'm sure I could have done even better if I could have taken a full breath!

That is an impressive time. I see that many of you have a race time as opposed to a "regular" training time. What was discouraging about the one race I did was my inability to push through the pain and run any faster than I usually do. I chalked it up to the 95 degree temperature that day, but generally my mantra the whole time is "this sucks, this hurts, I hate this." Not especially conducive to improvement.

I got out with a friend of mine and a friend of hers for a 4-mile run/jog/slog through the park. Fortunately flat, as it was my longest run since the Celtic Solstice 5-miler in December. With folks to talk to and pace with, it made it much easier to run the whole thing (stopped briefly at the turn-around point to shed a layer). It made me happy that I could still do that, however, as it puts me in a better mind-state for my 8K run on April 3rd.

When I got home, I did 10 minutes or so of circuit work (jump rope, lunges, Skier's Edge, chest presses, repeating), then went out and did 4-5 hours of heavy yard work (pruned back the butterfly bushes, and helped DH and a friend cut up and haul a large tree that fell in our backyard last month during a storm. We'll split it eventually for firewood next winter). Needless to say, I'm VERY sore right now and suspect I won't want to move to get out of bed in the morning!
