Dear Chicago Area Council Boy Scouts of America,

I used to think the Boy Scouts was a great thing and something to support. But ever since you closed the doors at Owasippe to all mountain bikers, I feel completely and totally betrayed by your organization. When the park was up for sale and slated to be developed--I campaigned, rallied, raised and donated money to help protect it. It was months and years of dedication, prayer, wishful thinking, that we stood by Owasippe. And just when we go to raise our glasses in a toast of victory, you close the park to a community that had always embraced and protected its natural wilderness.

I am still stunned. And often surprised by the wave of grief I feel over this loss.

I may be one of the only mountain bikers around here that has not given up hope. And I won't. Another letter is sitting in your inbox.
