Weird lumps on my right ankle

under the skin. Any ideas?? I sent the photos to my podiatrist, but I haven't heard back yet. They don't hurt to touch, but I do have ankle pain (deeper inside the ankle) on that foot.

I'm not sure if continuing to run on it is a good idea or not.

(the left image is the bad ankle and the right one is for comparison - to show what a 'normal' ankle looks like on me!)

Ummm, I can't actually see what you're talking about. Can you describe it verbally?

Are you talking about the pale spots? The ones right on the bone?

If that's it, my first thought would be parasites, but my mind just goes there...

Any bumps or swelling that are painful and weird that appear to be caused by an activity are probably best checked out before continuing that activity.

Yeah, they don't come out real well in the photo. It is the white spots. They sit just above my ankle bone and they are kind of soft under the skin like they are made up of tissue of some sort but all bunched up. They don't move much when I push on them and my skin moves over them freely, so they are not 'in' the skin.

I've never seen anything like this. At first glance, it looked like a pile up of fat globs in one spot, but they are not squishy enough to be fat as I'd expect fat to be (if that makes any sense!).

I have no idea what caused it. One day, as I was stretching, I happened to notice it. It's more obvious when my ankle is flexed forward. Otherwise, they are barely noticeable. I couldn't even begin to fathom when they first appeared, but they've been there for at least a few months now... the ankle pain is more recent (and steadily becoming more of a problem), so I can't say if they are related or not.

let us know what your doctor said. Made me think of shin splints that horses get along the inside of their cannon bone.... but i can't see anything in the photo either.
