I was right; going out to dinner was dangerous, Hubby wanted to go to a bar to watch nascar truck racing so I had fried fish and chips! Sure tasted good, I'm sure it was all the calories I ate all week in one dinner!

    Today:

B: 2 egg whites scrambled with 1 whole egg, 2 pieces TJ sprouted rye toasted bread, fat free cottage cheese & coffee

    S: none

L: such as it was, had a little fruit and two small meatballs & coffee at church social hour after service

    S: Cliff Bar

2 hour bike ride, some hills and quite windy for a portion of the ride. It isn't often that I can't coast going DOWN the hill

D: Roasted skinless chicken breast with lots of green beans from freezer, 1 small spinach tortilla, 1 Stockyard Oatmeal Stout

Still somewhat hungry but will wait a little before I eat more to make certain it is really hunger and not something else. Snack later will probably be an apple with fat-free cottage cheese or some Kefir with berries from the freezer. I suspect the Kefir with berries might come sooner rather than later

    S - carrot/celery/spinach/apple homemade juice
D - Mexican polenta casserole made with black beans, tomatoes, chilis, onions, cheese. Lots of lettuce & salsa on the side, a dollup of sour cream; 1 Miller Lite

Emily - do you notice the taste of the whey protein powder in the cereal? I am considering doing this instead of going back to Myoplex for breakfast so I can feel like I am actually eating breakfast instead of drinking it...

nothing remarkable for breakfast or lunch, just the usual steel cut oatmeal fruit and coffee, fruit, crackers and hummus for lunch (love the new Nut thin brand rice cracker) but made an exceptional Osso bucco with whole grain pasta, spinach salad with feta, pine nuts and pickled beets for dinner. Yumm--happy food baby in the tummy.

and tonight I used the some of moroccan preserved lemons I made (in order to have an excuse to pick the meyer lemons before the freeze) and made about the best lemon chicken I have ever made- Tasty, low fat and nutritious. I think I am in love with Moroccan preserved lemons. Too bad the little tree probably won't recover from the freeze to produce more lemons. Tood soon to tell but it's looking very yellow and dead at this point. sigh....

    Yesterday

B: 3 strips of bacon, 1 triangle of French toast with syrup, four or five strawberries, hash browns with bits of bell pepper, orange juice
    S at airport: iced chai
L at different airport: Chipotle chicken sandwich (with cheese, lettuce and tomato), "Unfries" with ketchup, 3/4 of a Pepsi.
    Wintergreen Life-saver
S: cup of white chai with sugar, some low-salt Ritz crackers

I skipped dinner because I was still full from breakfast and lunch. I really should start eating giant breakfasts every day!

Today I fell off the wagon again:
I woke up around lunch time, so no breakfast. I had a cup of black tea with milk and sugar, followed an hour or so later with a whole-milk chai latte from the place down the street and most of a cinnamon bun (DBF had the rest)--I figured I needed a treat after last night's adventures! Dinner was a spinach/lettuce salad with artichoke hearts, feta, parmesan and romano and oil-and-vinegar dressing. DBF brought back a decaf white mocha from Starbucks for me.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Not at all, but that would be totally brand dependent. I buy mine from trueprotein.com and get the microfiltrated vanilla flavor/unsweetened. So, it probably does add a touch of vanilla taste, but I think they make an unflavored one as well. Whatever the taste, I like it, and I still taste the cereal above all. I like the texture too. To me it's basically unnoticeable.

Just as an aside, I've been very happy with trueprotein.com. They sell a zillion different types of protein powders, you can create your own custom blend or buy one of theirs, add or not add all types of sweeteners and additions, buy any quantity, and prices are way better than anything I found in the stores. They will ship in a food-grade bag, so packaging is less wasteful than big bottles as well. I have no affiliation with them but am a very satisfied customer!

Thanks for the recommendation, I will check into them. My dr and nutritionist want me to get a very large amount of protein - and my body does respond to that (and my diabetes). Sometimes the problem is introducing variety into my diet while maintaining the same level of protein and keeping fat content under control. Basically I want something that I can add 25-30 grams of protein with (preferably) no flavoring. Thanks, I have some research to do!

    yesterday:

B: can of tuna over tomato slices, a handful of low fat cheddar cheese melted on top with half a grapefruit, V-8, coffee
L: salad with lettuce, chicken, left over bow tie pasta, veggies, wine vinegar
S: dried cranberries and nuts at 2:30, slice of whole wheat bread and hummus at 5:00
D: Asian chicken salad, on a bed of napa, snap peas, whole wheat udon, yellow pepper with low fat sesame dressing. 2 squares chocolate
    S: handful of blueberries

My weight is up. Usually. it is after the weekend, but that's gone by Tuesday. I think it's because I'm in an "in between" season for exercise... no x country skiing or outdoor riding this weekend. You would think 2 three mile walks (uphill) and a hard trainer ride would suffice, but it doesn't. I feel like a slug.
