Sounds good! I'm making a chicken/chickpea tangine tomorrow night for the first time. Found the recipe online (somewhere) recently and thought it sounded interesting with the spices, raisins, etc. Didn't even know it was Moroccan, but that makes sense. Yum!

It's clear and warm enough down there for you to ride? Jealous! Our road's still covered in slush!

    Today:
B: Tea with milk and slightly too much sugar (DBF made it...)
    L: kosher hot dog
S: A white white fudge-covered Oreo, shortly to be followed by an apple.
D: Plan is steak with broccoli. I don't know what we're doing for the carbs.
    Probably more tea...
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Before going out of town, for snowshoeing in mountains, I had:

b: bowl of cornflakes with skim milk, 1 banana and a cup of tea with milk\
snacks during 8 kms. snowshoeing...not far but at least the guide took us away from blowing 50 kmph winds in the open. Snacks were 2 granola bars and water.

another snack when returning into town ..banana bread and coffee with milk

dinner: sundried tomato couscous with onions, garlic and thyme.

Brewer made us a proper fry-up for brekkie!
    bacon
    steamed egg
shredded oven potato (no fat here. Obviously no lack of it in the rest!)
    1/2 tomato
    1 big mushroom
    toast
(we both forgot the beans until it was too late to bother)

    later we ate:
    chicken soup & biscuits

I might never be hungry again.

B - french toast with thick italian bread dipped in soy milk with cinnamon, flour and sugar to cook, then covered in vegetable margarine, maple syrup, powdered sugar and strawberries, with "smart bacon."

    S - vanilla soy yogurt.

D - Fettuccini "Alfredo" - sauce made with cashews, pine nuts, lemon juice, garlic, nutritional yeast, thyme, salt, black pepper, and water, topped with 2 "chicken" breasts made by Gardein, green beans sauteed in vegetable margarine and olive oil with shallots and garlic, and two pieces of leftover italian bread from this morning.

Dessert - more of that chocolate chip banana bread pudding from last night.

My dinner last night was great, but way too much food and I ate all of it.

    2 Carta Blanca beers
chilli rellenos, one filled with potato and spinach, the other with meat (chorizo?), rice and refried beans.
I left a little of the beans, but otherwise, my plate was clean.

Did not feel so great when I woke up. Back to clean eating.

Breakfast today was steel cut oats in which I added frozen cherries and a few other berries. Not as good as I thought, but as I made enough for the next few days...added skim milk

    S: Kefir

L: Roasted skinless chicken breast sandwich with TJ sprouted wheat bread and a piece of white cheddar cheese

    S: Cliff bar

    18 mile bike ride

D: Making a wonderful stuffed pepper dish - but chopped the peppers instead of stuffing them. Tempeh, corn, black beans, onion, garlic, green chilies, marinara sauce, assorted spices, chopped sweet roasting peppers. Also goes well with shredded chicken

Snack later - probably either an apple or orange.

B- cornflakes with skim milk, tea with milk
Lunch- borek with spinach and feta. I think it's a Turkish dish, it's like a very thin pita like bread that's heated up with filling and very flat. with hot peppery tomato sauce on side.

    1 coffee with milk
Half chocolate truffle tarte shared with dearie -Valentine's gift

Supper- He's throwing together kohl rabi, fennel bulb, and whatever for dish. Will have leftover elk wine sauce over noodles probably.

    Will end with fresh fruit.

L: bowl of butternut squash and apple soup with a whole wheat roll
and more water during second half of ski, which was a total of about 7 miles
S: a little sample of tomato soup w/pita chips at Trader Joe's, piece of string cheese

I need to get "back on the wagon" when it comes to veggies! We haven't really been shopping this week, so the only veggies in the fridge are a questionable-looking bell pepper and three rather limp carrots.

B: Tea with milk and sugar, steel cut oats with PB and 2 teaspoons of sugar.
L: Bagel with smoked salmon cream cheese.
S: One white fudge Oreo and an apple
D: 6-7oz steak, baked potato. We were going to have broccoli, but it was...fuzzy.
D: 3-inch across chocolate cake. It was filled with some kind of chocolate goo. I ate the cake, but not the goo. Too rich.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

It's a good idea to keep frozen veggies on hand for times like these. We buy organic veggie blends (plus plain broccoli cuts and green beans) at the food co-op, so we are never totally without a veg. choice for dinner. Often frozen veggies are higher in vitamins and minerals than fresh, particularly if you can't shop at a farmer's market. When veggies have to be shipped long distances, then sit in your fridge for days, they can lose nutritional value quickly.
