    TYR EBP Fin//More Praise

A while back, I posted a review on these fins: http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodTR_LFBP.html

I had a great first impression of them, and I'm so pleased with them that I wanted to post an update.

Since I got them, I've been using them consistently. Usually, my final 800 yds, I wear these fins and focus first on technique, then speed. Some things I've noticed:

    1. Increased ankle flexibility in both feet.
    2. Better body rotation.
    3. The best---better body position in the water. I've noticed that I'm definitely higher in the water at all times and feel more streamlined. I also don't seem to be "snaking" any more (I have a slight case of scoliosis and body alignment issues).

These fins are so comfortable--the footbed is like butter. You really forget you have them on. You can either take it easy and focus on technique because the fin is buoyant (no need to expend energy kicking to keep your legs/hips from dragging) or you can really work up your heart rate by kicking vigorously with them. (When I'm doing the latter, I could almost keep up with the Olympians in the fast lane!!)

For anyone serious about improving their technique/performance, I highly recommend these fins as a worthy investment.

Medium bladed fins: I have tried the TYR Crossblades and I hated them, primarily because the sizing is all screwed up. I got the smalls (size I have in the EBP) but they were so tight in the ball of the foot that my right foot hurt/cramped during a kick set) -- really think the mediums wouldn't work because the way the toe pocket is cut. I'm considering getting the Speedo Optimus (I want a medium bladed fin so I can focus on my kick more). Anyone use those? How is the sizing (I wear 7.5 womens but have wider, pre-bunion feet)?

If anyone has narrow feet and wants my Crossblades, please send me a PM. I'll send them to you for the cost of postage.

I just bought mine and used them for the first time today. You aren't kidding...these are totally worth it!!! I was able to do some of the side kicking and one-arm drills that have previously given me trouble due to inadequate propulsion. I should have done this a long time ago...

Now I'm looking for more technique drills to try. Anyone have any favorites?
