    Hebe was my first cat, and is also a great character in a Mary Wesley novel (Harnessing Peacocks). Plus a pretty flower.

    I thought I had responded to this thread- guess not. I live in Arizona and I play the fiddle, so I use it for my identity here and elsewhere.

    Talking I didn't inhale

    I'm not named for drugs, really! This was not my first bike but my first "serious road bike", a '97 Trek 420, green to purple fade paint job. Previous bikes were a Raleigh 3 speed, then a Gitane, then a Mercien ... I'd gotten it a year or so before joining here. It was lifted from inside my home shortly after joining I hate bike theives! So if you see it out there hold the crook down while you PM me.

    Sometimes I consider changing "my name" to one of my new bikes.

    I also thought I had responded to this thread, my handle = two things I like to do bike and writer plus I feel like it's a play on words. I currently write a couple of columns in our monthly newspaper. I need to note that writing is really a hobby, it's not what I do for a living.

    Also a friend of mine started up a facebook group of bike writers as several of us here in town met at a writers club and later found out that a few of us also liked to bike ride.

    When I still lived in Ohio I was in a Klingon Star Trek fan club. Koronin is the Klingon name I choose for myself. I just use it for message boards as it's easy for me to remember.

    I thought that I had posted on this thread when it came out, guess not

    "Catrin" is just a version of my first name. I've been told that it is the Welsh transliteration, but I don't really know if that is true or not. It is, however, easy to remember and is normally available for use on discussion boards though not always.

    I have considered changing it to the name of my bike, but before I decide that I will need to see what the new bike will be named We will see, my current posting name is short and sweet and that is nice too.

    I just had my screen name changed, so I'm going to post again!

    My original screen name was MDHillSlug because I'm from Maryland and I was rather "hill challenged" when I signed up here. In the years since, I've gotten to be a much stronger rider, so the name didn't fit so well anymore. So, now I'm HillSlugger, because I fight my way up hills and it's a play on the old name.
    I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

    I did my undergrad studies at the University of Wisconsin (Badgers)
    and I'm in grad school at the University of Arizona (Wildcats).
    I'm a Badger and a Wildcat, but my allegiances are still mostly to Wisconsin, so... badgercat.

    Correction, think it was a Mercier? Got it used after the Gitane and I were "right hooked"

    These are great stories. I had never made the connection to "420", maybe your bike thief did!

    My handle means "Peaceful Mischief" in the language my husband invented. You might be surprised that "conlang" (constructed language) is a popular hobby. It's very useful for a unique handle. When our daughter was born he created a new word and she became Nelalvai, "New Mischief".

    I know that the bike thief did Fun thing about the bike was the double-take experienced riders did when they saw it. "Oh, whatever. A Trek 42 .... woah! With Flightdeck and Ultegra and .... "

    Chris Robinson and I had so much fun upgrading the heck out of it.

    I'm sure the crook stripped it for a hit of crack. I hate bike crooks.

    I'm first generation Italian. My parents immigrated here in 1948. My Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles followed shortly thereafter. Therefore I grew up immersed in all things Italian.....I can't seem to shake it off.....not that I really want to.

    Ciao = hello/goodbye in Italian
    Bella = Beautiful

    Growing up in my large extended family, my aunts & uncles always called us nieces "Bella", as a term of affection.

    It's just an expression that I've always liked.
