Our beautiful loving kitty Pearl was put to sleep this evening.
She tried so valiantly for two months to recover from her latest bout with kidney failure, but sadly she developed cancer as well and it was all too much for her, there was no longer any chance for recovery. We had to spare her the final phase of suffering she would be likely to have in the days ahead as the cancer grew.
She was purring and I cuddled and kissed her as she went to sleep peacefully.
That purr was her way of letting me know she was ok and she loved us. She was comforting me.
What a beautiful and wonderful shining light she was for 10 years. Such bright sparkle and affection, - a fiery sprite covered with gossamer swan's down, that was Pearl.
We shall miss her terribly. Thank goodness we have the in-your-face little kitty Suki to keep us on our toes and distracted right now.
I put up a little album of some of my favorite photos of Pearl here:

This was in the middle of the night, while I was trying to fall asleep, and yes, it is a four poster/canopy bed. He's name is Finbar, but should be "Get down from there" or "this house is not your jungle gym". He is definitely entertaining, but it's been a while since I've had a kitten in this house. I'd forgotten how crazy it can be!
