    New wheels and tires!

Oh man! My husband just surprised me with these new wheels and tires as a present for me getting my dream job! They're beautiful, and really fit the bike's color and style well. They also knocked 2 pounds off of my bike's weight. They were hand built in Singapore, and every piece was customizable. I don't think you can tell in the picture, but even the nipples are hot pink!

The original wheels that come with the Orbea frame are heavy and clunky and really zap your power on the frame. I've read reviews about them that explained exactly what I had been experiencing. I even had put my husband's hand built wheel set on my bike for a ride once and even though his gearing was 11-25 (mine's 11-28), I didn't feel like I needed more gears, and I was flying up hills. It was amazing.

It's terrentially down pouring here right now, so I haven't gotten to try them outside, but I can't wait until I can!

That may just be the most beautiful bicycle I've ever seen - it just about brought tears to my eyes. The wheels are stunning! You are very, very lucky to have such a brilliant DH and such a gorgeous bike!

Very pretty bike! May I ask what your old wheels were?

They were the Mavic Aksium Race wheels with Vittoria Rubino tires. My husband also mentioned the other day when we were out on a ride (the new wheels ride like a champ btw!) that he also put in lightweight tubes!

ohhh. I asked because I thought we had the same wheels. My current wheels are Reynolds Solitude with Rubino tires. I'm looking to upgrade my wheels as well. It's hard because there are so few options for 65oc. Anyways, I look all the pink...not too much, not too few. Just enough!

Oh yeah... I don't have 650's. Good luck though, I hope you are able to find something you like!
