I was thinking on today's ride that even though I am not exactly a newbie there is ALWAYS something new to learn or experience on the bike, and that is part of what makes riding so much fun!
Today I rode in the snow for the first time. . . .well, the first time in deep powdery snow. With the bike slipping and sliding everywhere, it makes you really rely on core core muscles for balance, you also just have to relax and let the bike do what it needs to do, and trust your body to follow. . . . oh yeah, and it makes you feel like a kid again!
I love reading this thread. I just think, "I'm not the only one!" Today, my husband and I went to Little Rock and made the loop over the Big Dam Bridge, to the River Market, ate and then back. It was 17 miles. It was an awesome day for riding (upper 50's/lower 60's). Besides falling over in the parking lot...it was a great ride. I started off too slow and got hung up in those new clipless pedals!
Been busy since Thanksgiving and haven't been on the bike at all in the last week or so. Ic/snowy outside, so I guess it's time to drag out the trainer, just need to find a place to set it up now that I have the Christmas tree up.
I did maintain my weight through Thanksgiving tho.. which is a GOOD thing with all the pie, cake, and cookies that were around. Now to just to get through the Christmas season with positive weight loss would be huge. So much temptation at work during the season!

I love the idea of Thanksgiving, but my hips are always grateful that we don't have it in the UK. I am trying so hard not to buy the lovely German gingerbread and marzipan goodies that are in my corner supermarket at the moment, I am finally consistently back to pre-baby weight minus 7lbs and don't want to put them back on!
I've not been out riding for nearly 3 weeksI was sore, then I had a cold, then it snowed. Hoping to get out this week though, possibly tomorrow if the last of the ice melts. This may be over optimistic given that the temperature is only forecast to go one degree above freezing all week. On Tuesday I'm going to the LBS to have another go at choosing a Christmas bike
Good times.
editing to add that the forecast for tomorrow is -3degC and light snow (on top of the ice we already have). So no riding tomorrow![]()

I just got word I was one of the winner of my company weight loss challenge.
It's a gift card for $25-50 I think.. I don't remember the exact prize but I get to pick it up today.
For something I was trying to do anyhow.. it worked out twice as good for me.. loose weight and get paid!!!
