My mom was ummm.. well known.. for her hot temper when she was younger and has always been very protective of her kids epically. Momma Grizzly.
Somewhere/somehow she ended up with a knight-stick (yes, like the police carry) in her car for protection. Single woman living in "rougher" part of town and going to night-school she kept it in-between the console and seat for added protection.
One day this old lady in a BIG Caddy pulls out in front of us (I wanna say early eighties-- I was 6 or 7) and she had to hit the breaks HARD. Seat belts weren't even a thought then and I slid off the seat and into the floor. The lady stops in the middle of the road, might have been the sound of tires screaming from a car trying not to hit her, but she panicked and froze.
So mom gets out, takes that knight-stick, walks up to the old lady and taps the car window. She proceeds to ask her to roll down the window so she can.. ummm.. complement her on her driving ability.
The lady finally comes to and drives off.
In hindsight I wasn't hurt and the reaction was indeed harsh and I never saw that night-stick in the car again...
There was also that time when she went all "Last of the Mohicans" on this guy that caused an accident and when he thought he was going to run all over some "stupid" female and actually assaulted her by slapping her, she picked up a hammer from the back seat. This was when he felt he should make his exit and got back into his car and proceeded to take off, but she still had the hammer in her hand, performing a tomahawk throw directly at his rear window and shattered it.
I wasn't around for the tomahawk incident and it's funny to talk about old "war" stories now, but I am glad ma has simmered down in her old age!!
There are times when you've been pushed too far by the idiots in the world.
