I was supposed to run 18 saturday. By the trail markings, I ran 19.5....but I did circle back a few times to find my friends, and when I was on my own for the last 7, I got lost. Pretty sure I was well above 20 Felt great though. I was ready to be done, for sure, and to call DH and let him know I was safe and done......buuuut, I could have done another 10 if I needed to do it, and that is where I mentally need to be now! Under 3 weeks until my 50K.

On thursday, I will be running the Atlanta Thanksgiving Day Half. I have done if for a few years now, and they changed the course. I think it is going to be harder I will give it my best shot!

That being said, I have to get my contributions to thanksgiving done early so I can run all morning!

Happy running! I know I am thankful to be able to run!

OH! I actually bought a picture from that trail race last weekend! I think it is my favorite running picture ever! In the woods, having fun, AND in front of a bunch of guys!

Love the trail picture, it looks like it belongs on one of those Runner's World pages at the beginning of the magazine (name escapes me).

I ran about 1:15 on Sunday as my last "long" run, the temp dropped to 20s and the wind chill was in the single digits so I did not do it outside, which limited my time (and patience).

6 days to my marathon... I am probably nervous but it's hidden behind a thousand other things. The trick is to find the balance between confidence ("I've done it before, I'll do it again") and indifference ("eh, it's just another marathon"). My last 20 mile run felt so good that I think my brain isn't really convinced this was marathon training. It's supposed to hurt, right?

The temps this week are supposed to be very cold up until the end of the week. Tonight, blizzard warning. I'm not sure if I'll be running outside this week or not. I love running in the snow, and it looks like my insulated and waterproof FiveFingers arrived today, so I might give it a shot. The regular Five Fingers are a little scary in slippery conditions, though not a whole lot worse than running shoes can be.

I ran this morning. Every few weeks this just seems to happen, despite the fact it makes my hip hurt. But, my hip hurts most of the time, so I get disgusted and run.
It;s funny how being in the dark makes things easier. I went out dressed to run (i.e. shorts) as it was 50 at 5:30 AM, but I saidI was going to walk. All of a sudden, I found myself running. Probably more slowly than I would if I had the intentionof running, but before I knew it, I had turned around and had run up the 10% grade hill and was at my driveway. I think it comes from not being able to see hills and such as well in the dark, because the same thing happens when riding. The roads were wet, though, so I am glad I ditched the bike.
Eh, I am bored. Two clients cancelled so TE has to amuse me for the next 20 minutes.

A little over four, including 6 x 100m sprints with a long interval between to strop the edge a little ahead of the Turkey Trot. Not a goal event, but it's way too far to drive if I'm not at least going to try to do my best, and it feels like forever since I've raced a 5K.

    Love the pic Kacie!!

I did a little over 3 miles today after work. I added a few sprints to start to improve my overall speed. All in all it was a good run.

Did two and a half-ish today - tried to meet a group and they didn't show? Oh well. The whole second half was into a headwind and I haven't dealt with that in awhile!!

Can I join? Posting runs will keep me motivated...

Yesterday I discovered a new challenge: in our town we have an old castle on a small hill. 420 something steps lead up there and having climbed the stairs there is another steep climb to the very top of the hill. Running upstairs was tougher than I would have expected, I had to stop in the middle and wait for a minute or two
The castle-hill is right in the middle of my ordinary 5k-run, so the run doesn't become much longer but a lot more challenging if I run over the top.
I'm looking forward to beating the stairs in the future (not having to stop to catch my breath)

    Wowee Susan!

Years ago I used to run the stairs at a dam down the road, it was something around 105-120 steps I seem to remember, and my legs would be WRECKED if I did it even three times. Then I did some short runs when we visited Venice a couple of years ago, most of the sidewalks and almost all of the bridges are granite, that stuff is HARD.

It sounds like a beautiful place to run but really, really tough, so you should be proud of doing it at all, WITH stops to catch your breath.

mother nature, make up your mind!! Tuesday it was 50 F when I ran; I way over-dressed for the conditions, and kept on stripping off layers as I went and ended up in a tank top. Wednesday, it was 30 F and windy at the same hour; I was wishing I'd worn my warmer tights. And tomorrow, it'll likely be nearly 50 F at 6:30 am again....

Anyway, today was 4 miles of hills, the steepest part into the wind. But thankfully no stairs or castles!

100% chance of heavy rain for the Turkey Trot tomorrow. Yuk.

If I don't race I probably won't run at all. Better do it.

    Outcome of todays run:

    Stairs: 2
    Susan: 0

OakLeave, thank you and I am - but there is a race up those stairs every year and ... wouldn't it be nice to participate next year?

Running in the rain can be fun and I hope it will be for you tomorrow!

I did a quick 3 mile run after work today. The temps are gettting on the chilly side. I think it was in the upper 20s with a stiff wind...brrrr. I decided to add some intervals to try to increase my speed. Probably will not be able to run tomorrow because I have to work then prepare for dinner

Yeah for the turkey trots! Such a healthy way to start the holiday!

I spent the whole day cooking, and ran up to the expo to get my number for the half tomorrow, then spent time with friends enjoying noodles and bread Pre-race dinners might be my favorite part of the race!

    Happy Thanksgiving!
