Smile Now it's really MY bike!

As a treat to myself and to hopefully remedy some elbow discomfort I've been having, I took my bike for a fitting today. I went to Bicycle Outfitters in Los Altos. Chris helped me for a long time. He carefully measured the angle of my legs, where my knee came over my feet, the angle of my elbows and other things. He adjusted my seat, moved my hoods up, moved my handlebars back and we finally decided on a new, shorter stem. He spent a lot of time with me and talked about the dynamics of position, etc. He was a perfect gentleman, too.

Anyway, I haven't had a chance to ride my new custom-fitted bike yet, but I could feel the difference just on their trainer. I highly recommend having this done, especially if you're new to road biking. It only cost me $45.00 which was well worth the time and labor he put into it. It's too bad the shop I bought it from didn't provide this with the bike. They just did a visual quick-fit.

That is so great! I'm glad you posted this too because I just ordered a new bike and it was a good reminder to make sure I get fitted properly! I live in SoCal now but used to live in the bay area and I LOVED to go to that bike shop!!! Listening to you all talk about your rides (Cinderella, along w/local road rides) makes me homesick!

Please let us know what you think of the changes!!!

Looking forward to our ride tomorrow to see if you like the new fit. I'm sorry about today. It still hasn't rained at my house and I'm a little frustrated with the weather folk. Oh well.

I agree, $45 is a great price. A bike fitting here, in New Jersey, is $100! My husband has had a fitting for his road bike. I'd like one for both my road and mtn bikes, but it's a bit pricey for me. My bikes are comfortable, I'd be looking for some fine tuning. Hope you enjoy your 'new' ride!
