Found the book -- all motorcycles in Vietnam, though: "Bikes of Burden", by Hans Kemp. Some samples through a slide show from ABC News. It's amazing to see.

I think it's even worse that the animals are alive! Pigs, dogs, chicken, fish (lots of tiny plastic bags with water and gold fish).
