    Talking Bobke is SOOOOO funny!!!!!

Just got back from LBS's Pro Night. Quite an all star line-up: Kevin Livingston, End Overend, er, Ned Overend, Julie Furtado, Gary Fisher, Ben Serrotta, and, of course, Bob Roll. Not to mention the free pizza and beer and smoothie and coffee samples from the cafe soon to open IN the bike shop.

I was super-psyched to see Bob Roll and DH was kind enough to give me the Hall Pass, meaning he took DS home to bed so I could see Bobke up close and personal. And I did get up close, first in the break room of LBS, which was serving as backstage for the room where he was speaking. DS and his friend, whose dad manages the shop, were running around the back of the shop and did a few laps through the break room where Bobke was talking on the cell phone. The boys stopped to say hi to Bobke and he gave them high fives. Um, well, the second time through manager-dad told us to stay out of the break room . Hey, Bob didn't seem to mind .

Finally rounded up a sweaty DS and sent my boys home. I stood in the doorway of the packed room where Bobke and Kevin Livingston were speaking very informally with John "College" Corioth moderating. I stood there a while with my ear cupped trying to hear, slowly realizing that there seemed to be a lot of space off to the side of the stage. I slid up and found 4 unoccupied seats right up front !

I wish I had a video camera, Bob Roll in person is sooooo effin' FUNNY !!!! Animated, great stories, funny faces - man, I'd love to have a drink or five with that guy!!! Let's just say he tones it down a lot when he's sitting next to Phil Liggett. Yeah, he told Phil Liggett stories, and did impressions too ! All in all, a fun night

oh man... I am envious! I have heard he is a great and amusing speaker and have read his books (which are hysterical!)... sounds like it was a fun night! And cool of the DH to give ya that hall pass...
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

very nice my friend! He lives about 6 hrs from me and I always wonder if I went up to Co Springs (we have a customer there) and just kinda hung around if I'd ever see him (yeah right...but we can all wish neh?)! Sounds like you had a great evening!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

Phil Liggett's favorite joke (as told by Bob Roll):

    Q. Why did the Texan buy a dachshund?

    A. Because the sherrif said, "Get a-long little doggie."

    What do you think, Lise?
