I have mixed feelings. It will be my first attempt at a two-Ironman season, but Florida is a nice flat race so it won't be as challenging as Coeur d'Alene anyway. The weather also wasn't bad, and I guess I'd rather travel to Florida than Arizona (though Florida has more humidity risk, Arizona can get windy). I'll likely switch my Thanksgiving 2011 marathon to an "in recovery" half marathon (3 weeks post IMFL another marathon would be entirely too ambitious).

I'm amazed at how long it took to sell out - I read that it just sold out a couple of hours ago.

I've decided no more triathlons for me--I hate the swimming that much.

So instead a friend and I are going to do the Great Greenbrier River Race Triathlon next year: 3 miles running, 4 miles flat kayaking, 10 miles cycling (run and bike are both on a rail-trail). Should be a fun day!

Now I just need to learn how to kayak. Well, I can move myself forward in a kayak, but I've never actually gotten started in one by myself before--there's always the rental guy helping set me up and push me off!

Now that we are actually getting closer to the season and I need something to think about other than all the snow I have started to firm up my plans more.

    Current plans for 2011:
    >April 18 - Boston Marathon - 1st Marathon, running with Team in Training to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
    >June 4 - Escape the Cape Spring Tri - Sprint
    >June 17 - Mass State Tri - OLY
    >August 21 - Timberman 70.3 HIM (1st HIM distance)

I may also do another sprint early Aug between the OLY and HIM and am thinking either a sprint or 1/2 marathon in early May.

    Anyone else?

Awesome! I'm chuckling that it's on the 18th again. That's my father's birthday. When we lived in Boston and it fell on his birthday one year, he joked with all this college budies in other cities that his whole company got the day off work BECAUSE it was his birthday (my dad was a VP at the time). They were all amazed at his power! He really floored him when he said that they were also running a marathon for him!

My plans for 2011 have expanded a bit.

    Feb 5: Resolution Run 5K
May 7: Canby Gator Grinder sprint tri
June 4: Blue Lake sprint tri
June 25: Pacific Crest OLY (my first!)
July 11: volunteer at Rev3 Half Iron in Portland
    July 31: Mid-Summer sprint tri
Aug 21: Scoggins Valley sprint tri OR Crater Lake Century
    Sept 10: Warrior Dash
    Oct: 16: Girlfriends Half Marathon

Plus I'll probably do a few practice midweek mini-tri's in July at Hagg Lake. I REALLY wanted to do Irongirl at Hagg Lake but it happens to fall on the same weekend as Pac Crest which is my 'A' race for the year.

Switched up my season some, but now I am officially registered for the big stuff!

    IM St. George May
    Rev3 Olympic Quassy June
    Rev3 Full Cedar Point September
    Rev3 Olympic October

There will probably be some smaller things in there (like finishing my recovery right now), but those are the key races, with Cedar Point being the A race for times!
Slow and steady (like a train!)
