    Update: Death Valley Century

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Well, my first century is under my belt. 108 miles, 4200(about) feet of climbing, under 9 hours total time. I am very pleased with everything. I got my road bike in February of this year.

The weather couldn't have been better. There was a little bit of rain before the start, but that cleared up and we had beautiful blue skies the whole day. It didn't get very hot. I felt pretty good all day and made the time cut off and distance with no problem. (I was really worried about the time). My only discomfort, really, was related to my right levator scapula and shoulder. I am going to get a professional bike fit and see if we can't get my set up a bit better so that doesn't bother me so much. Other than that, it was an awesome day!

There was one couple there on a tandem, wearing pirate costumes, and playing "yo ho yo ho it's a pirate's life for me" on a speaker. They were doing the double.

WOW! Congrats on a great ride. Anything with Death Valley in it sounds way too hard for me!
