Well that makes sense. After all, the ankle bone is connected to the leg bone...it's all a connected.

Oh, and by the way, when I was in PT for my tendinitis in my wrist and elbow, they said I had to REST it completely in order for it to heal. No typing, no gardening (with that arm), etc. So just be prepared for that possibility.

I am prepared for it - though the dr said I could take a gentle ride. If the PT tells me I have to get off the bike for a time then I will. I will hate it, and stress over the effect of the lack of intense exercise might do to my blood sugar, but I will do it. Hopefully it would only be for a couple of weeks and my A1C is well within the normal range right now so hopefully that would be find for a short time.

I finally saw the physical therapist this afternoon for my evaluation. Surprise, surprise, he said no bikes. No spinning bikes. No elliptical. I can, however, walk. No lower body weights. I can walk. I could swim if I knew how... For at least a week - but that is ok, I am moving this weekend anyway. And it wasn't a surprise...I just hope that I am not being overly optimistic about only being off a week.

He thinks it is tendonitis as well, and possibly a strained muscle. He did give me several exercises for hip abduction and stretching my hip flexors, I guess more exercises will come Friday.

    I'm there with you-

I overdid it on my 3 week break from work and my hip is acting up again. I'm back to doing all the exercises from the PT from last spring, and the chiropractor as well, with hopes of seeing it calm down enough to still ride El Tour de Tucson Nov 20 ....

Take care of yourself, and it sounds like you are. If I hadn't been so stubborn about all of this my legs may have healed by now, or not. The PT figured me out pretty quickly though, there was no ambiguity at all in the printed instructions I left with. He broke it down into the simplest possible terms:

"No spinning or biking. Walking only. No lower body weight lifting."

My trainer can work with that so at least I can get a good upper body/core workout... it is getting frustrating though because all of this has to be impacting my overall fitness. There isn't anything for it though, not unless I want this to stick around until spring At least I have not gained any weight, though should probably drop my calories back down to 1,400 until I can start really exercising again.

We'll be miserable together. My weight went up 3 pounds as soon as I started increasing my exercise at the end of September, and I thought it would come down again as I eased up, but nope. So I am back to serious tracking on Weightwatchers, in hopes that I don't balloon w/o much cycling.

When I hit 100 miles a week my weight started to drop again...and then I hurt my leg. So far, at least, my weight is stable. I can still do upper body lifting and walk so hopefully that will help - and I really hope to be able to start getting back on either bike or at least the spinning bike in another week or so. So far, at least, I am only off for a week. Again. So we will see.

If I didn't have to pack tonight I think I would throw my own pity party and have a couple of beers
