How short is short?
I have a 29 inch inseam and do okay with Sugoi tights, at least in their XS and S. They're a wee bit too long on me, but I just roll under the bottom hem once and that helps. It's not noticeable when I do that.

I have never worked out outdoors through the winter before (other than riding horses in indoor arenas.. I live in Ohio!), so I am lacking in the gear I will need as the weather cools down.
What I"m having issues with is finding a pair (or a couple pairs) of tights I actually like. I have long underwear (kind of necessary when horseback riding though the winter), and last fall that's what I used as "tights" over my cycling shorts for a few rides. That's not going to cut it this year, as I am training for the Flying Pig Marathon next year.
I tried on a pair of tights at the running store I frequent the other day, and they are WAYYY too long. I must have short legs? So I'm looking for a couple pairs of tights that are on the shorter side and are preferably mostly windproof, since I would like to use them for both cycling and running. Having a chamois would be less than ideal, since I'd wear the tights over cycling shorts if I'm going out riding.
Recommendations would be great! I'd prefer the most affordable I can get, since I'm still mostly-unemployed and just spent hundreds applying to graduate school.![]()

My inseam is 28.5 and I have a pair of Hind, mid weight running tights I wear over my shorts. They are perfect length, have articulated knees and ankle zips. They are so old the zipper broke and DH fixed it for me, because I can't find another pair like these. They are size smalls, which is weird, since normally I wear an x small. I also have a pair of Ibex tights that are part wool. I wear them for snow sports and winter cycling. Same thing. They are smalls, but since they are tights, I just readjust and they are not too long. I bought them on Steep and Cheap about five years ago.
Athleta makes tights, hiking pants, running pants in petite sizes with appropriate inseams, in a wide range of sizes.

Did you go through the tight and knicker selection here on TE? They're very good at listing inseam length, and you can filter by w/ or w/o chamois.

Most of my tights are so old they don't make them any more, but I do have a pair of Hind tights. I'm 5'3" with an inseam of about 29.5.
I don't know what model they are, but they're kind of useless for running because they won't stay up until I've been running for three or four miles, enough that they get sticky from sweat.
But that's two of us shorter gals who wear Hind, anyway.
I tried on a pair of Ibex Long Janes and they were WAY too long. SmartWool tights fit me better, but the fabric is a bit too thin for me to be comfortable cycling in them.

My inseam is in the 28 to 28.5" range (I can never remember exactly), and I found a pair of size Small Cannondale tights on the sale rack at Performance about 5 years ago that are the perfect length. I have no idea if they still make them short enough for we petite gals.
I also have a much older pair of Performance brand tights that are short enough, but they're so old I am sure they have changed them a lot.
And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the wonderful Team Estrogen folks who sponsor this great forum will probably measure the inseams of a few pairs of different tights if you find some you are interested in!

Thanks, everyone! I did look at the petites/shorter inseam options on TE, but since it's my first pair of tights, I wanted to know what brands to look at as well for my specific needs.
I'm not sure what length my inseam is, since I haven't measured it recently. I'll go do that now..
