Casey's pretty good about using her box, unless the girls leave their bathmat on the floor after they shower. Something about peeing on a damp bathmat (or towel) just seems to be irresistible. Makes me crazy!

I get Feline Pine at Target (~$8), it's about 2/3 the price of PetSmart (~$12) for the big bags.
They also recently created a new "clumping" formula that isn't pellets, and I'm trying that this week because someone has decided her dainty little paws can't stand on the pellets when she poops (though it's ok for when she pees? I don't get it).

I tried swheat scoop and didn't care for it. It tended to sink to the bottom and form a gluey cake. So I switched to World's Best and generally like it. I love the environmental and health aspects of it and it's easily the best clumping litter I've used. But it SMELLS! I don't know if Ruthie pees acid or something, but after a few days it gets so smelly she refuses to use the box. So I have to dump the whole box a lot sooner than I did with any of the others. I'll probably stock with it, but I have to be very vigilant about cleaning or someone will start using my kayak instead![]()
We've found that combining Swheat Scoop with Tidy Cats makes for the BEST litter. The Swheat Scoop keeps the dust down, and the Tidy Cats makes the clumping even better. Our kittens seem to like it this way, so we'll stick with it!

I used Tidy Cats when I still had a cat...I had wanted to use something else but Sir Tigger just would NOT use anything else. He would keep his legs crossed and sent me dirty looks and, of course, I caved.
3+ on using Tidy Cat because it's better than pee on the floor. It is dusty but it's easy to scoop, and most importantly, the cats use it.
My elder cats aren't picky, but my youngest was an only cat before she joined us and does not like to share litter boxes. I've found Precious Cat works - and she isn't offended if someone else has been there (once). She refused to use the box with Feline Pine, Wheat Scoop, or other natural / recyclable litters - or if I mixed it. I prefer her going IN the litter box.![]()

We don't use any of the commercial cat litters. Instead, we use pine, cedar or aspen bedding litter. Our cats have been happily using this for years (at least 10 years now) and it makes us happy: no dust, no stray pellets all over the place to step on, nothing harmful in the litter and does not smell bad or like cat litter. You can see where they've peed (discolors the wood chips) and we just scoop it out and refreshen in between major cleanings.
How full do you fill the litter box? With The World's Best Cat litter, less is more. So we fill ours a little less than half the depth. We clean it twice a day with three cats. One litter box lasts for us about a month and a half, before it starts to get funky. Of course, we top it off now and then. But one 34 pound bag lasts us about 3 months, which is way longer than the 40 pound Swheat Scoop bag did.
World's Best does have a specific smell all it's own, naturally, which takes a little getting used to at first. I don't know how to describe it but it doesn't smell foul, just different. It uses corn and all the fibers of the corn absorb so well, that it clumps amazingly and doesn't have much dust. It's great!

"Namaste, B*tches!"
Does anyone use an auto scoop litter pan for their kettehs? I was looking at them online and debating if they would be worth the investment especially being as I have to leave for 2-4 weeks at a time occasionally. I'm having the neighbor check in but I really hate to ask her to scoop poo![]()
