I wish my 69 year old mother, who acts like she's going on 109, had some of his attitude. I hope I can be like Jack and keep riding and riding .... Very nice story, thanks for posting.

I'm trying to be like him! I'm amazed the broken hip didn't stop him for long. That's a hard injury to come back from. Many seniors give up their independence after breaking a hip, and I didn't know it would be possible to ride again after that. Good for him!

I see a couple of men on the bike path, not sure how old they are because they are in such good shape it's hard to tell. I ride that path once in a blue moon, but whenever I do, I see them both, like clockwork. They obviously ride every day for a couple of hours. They appear to have great physiques. They are my role models.

Well, I have ridden with an 85 year old leader, who shortly after the ride was diagnosed with a type of leukemia. He was at death's door, recovered, and now is riding again... several miles a week, though on flatter ground. I saw him in June and he looks great.
My dad, who smokes a bit, is 85, but is thin, lives on his own, works 15 hours a week, drives, and is perfectly sound of mind. Three of my four grandparents lived until 90-92. My grandfather lived until 92 when he died as a result of a car accident which was not his fault. He was still working almost full time and the other scrap metal dealers were waiting for him to die, so they could get his accounts. He became comfortably well off when he was in his late sixties and didn't want to stop then.
My dad's mother died playing bingo, at 91. Yea, even my dad laughed at that one.
