Did a sprint tri on Sunday, not my best performance, but I was releasing software, preparing for a vacation (I have never left this company for a vacation in 10 years, they are a bit co-dependent on me), and all things considered, I still finished 13th in my age group out of 80 or whatever women. My bike time slipped a bit from last month, but it was also different conditions. My run time, however, got faster. I LOVE FALL.

I ran this week (week 1 of marathon plan) also with my dog, we did a good 60-minute twilight run (more like full moon in the dark run). It was 50-55 degrees, crisp. I remembered why I sometimes love running, and so did she. Unfortunately that's 1 day of 4 that I should have been running, but I am ultimately not concerned at this point. I will try to get a long run in tomorrow, probably 8 miles.

Next 2 weeks, I will be in Italy. I do not know what I will do for running (or whether I will care), but my first week is just going to be vacationy touristy things, and my second week is 6 days of cycling 30+ miles a day. Thankfully it's at the beginning of my marathon plan, so I can still build my long run without being too unsafe.

    Have a great time Colby!

I did not-quite 24 today. Same route as last week, but without a little bit of the back-and-forth. Now it's taper time.

It was a perfect day for running - steady 60°F, not too windy, just enough overcast to take the edge off the sun.

I'm just not in as good shape as I was in the spring, I don't think. It's a little hard to tell, with the difference in the terrain. It'll be a really flat race though - not pancake flat, but near as. I'm hoping that'll help me. I'm inclined to go for broke, regardless. I've done conservative, and it was fun, but I'm mentally ready to push even if physically might be a different story.

I'll be working on race pace a lot in the next week or two. We'll see.
