Wow!! Taylor Phinney just beat Levi in the US time trial championship by 4/100 of a second!! Amazing. He has a great future ahead of him.

I wonder if these races will be on TV. Road race is tomorrow.

I was at the time trial just now. Levi did not look very happy. Taylor was so excited, its amazing how good he is and he's only 20 years old!

Levi actually lost by .14 seconds. That's like.... a gust of wind. Poor Levi, rough season for him.

The course they were on is relatively flat. has a wicked u-turn turnaround. It was in the sun the entire time, and it's usually really windy. As my bf and i were walking to the finish line the wind wasn't too bad, but it picked up as the afternoon went on.

I'm excited to watch the Road race tomorrow! It was really fun to watch last year, too! Unfortunately i can't take pictures and share with you all because my camera no longer has the ability to change settings. It's stuck on portrait from now on. So, no action shots.

BTW I just realized I should have put a spoiler warning in the subject line for this thread. Sorry!

I had a hunch that Taylor Phinney would win. Especially when I read the the course was flat. I think it would have been Levi if there was any climbing.

I like George, but he's worn the stars and bars several times. Time for someone else.

I'd be thrilled if it was one of the guys from Bissell (Ben, Andy, or Paul) or Chris Horner.

I just can't see Chris Horner winning since he's never ridden the course and was still in California on Saturday.

Wow - anyone "watching" the live reports from the road race? Amazing!

I watched the reports for a while, then had to go out. Was bummed that the video was basically frozen on the screen. Think maybe next year I need to plan a trip to Greenville.

Ben king, a 22-yr-old rider for Trek Livestrong U23 development team, won the road race today. He was in a breakaway from the beginning! first with three other riders, then 2, then he was alone for the last two climbs up Paris mountain. When he got into downtown for the ciruits there, he was about 3 min in front. The breakaway had gotten to be 17 minutes at one point on the climbs. Which could be blamed on the choice not to use helmet radios. In downtown the chase got the gap to be two minutes, but by that time it was the last lap... So there was no way to bring him back.
Greenville (aka g-Vegas) will be hosting the race for the next two years. However, it will be in May at the end of the month. That way the race will be at the beginning of the season and after tour of California. So more people will be willing to race and in the US to do it! Should be super exciting!!!

So both champs ride for the U23 Trek-Livestrong team. Good for them. King will race for Radio Shack next year. Phinney is still deciding who to sign with.

BTW Taylor's little sister won a mtb race today. They've got some serious racing genes in that family.
