    Now this term is the silliest thing ever.

    "Clipless" mean that you have cleats on the bottom of your shoes that clip onto clips on your pedals.

    It's a long history why you "clip" into "clipless." Originally pedals had cages on the toes which were called "clips." So toe cages are "clips" and "clips" are called "clipless". Kinda nutty.

    Look up wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_pedal. It explains it.
