My weekly mileage varies a lot, despite the fact that for the past five years I have had a total yearly mileage of between 2500 and 3000 miles. I was sort of hoping to hit 3k again this year, as I was ahead in my mileage, but the last 2-3 weeks I have slowed down due to weather, vacation, illness, and being back in class/internship. We will see.
I tend to do 1 long ride on the weekend and one shorter one. During the week, it really depends. Since I wasn't working this summer, I was doing 1 or 2 longer 30+ mile rides, plus maybe a short 15-20 mile ride. When I was teaching, I did a lot of short (13-16 mile) rides after work and I commuted 1-2 times a week for about 8 weeks, in the spring.
Next week my full schedule will kick in, and then I will see if I can reach my goal of 3k. Of course, doing a century might help... the last time I rode that much I reached 2500 by 10/7. Right now I am at 2200 or so, so I have some work to do. I know once November comes, I start transitioning to hiking, some riding outdoors, and awaiting the first snow for x country/snow shoeing.
