    Jersey whine.

It's been said many times before, I know, but I needed to vent.

I know it's not practical to try to cater to every body type out there. I'd like a jersey that fits, though, without having to have it altered. I have bust and hip measurements that are substantially larger than my waist. To accommodate my boobs/hips (let's face it, it's usually the boobs), I need to go up a size, which results in a fair bit of flapping fabric at the waist. I've lost weight this summer, and that's just accentuated the problem.

I just got the Filigree Wheels jersey in the mail, size L. I was borderline on the size, so I ordered a size up so I could go out in public. It's gorgeous. And is supposed to be race-cut. I'm glad I went a size up, because otherwise the hem would be around my waist the entire time. Fits great in the bust and hips, not so much in between. I'm visiting the alterations place with it and another jersey.

I think the only jersey I have that actually fits like it's supposed to is a Castelli. They're kind of expensive...and most of the time, not my style.

Okay, now back to your originally scheduled programming.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Fit difficulties (not in jerseys - I don't even own one) eventually drove me to learn to sew. In the apparel industry, it's well known that "off the rack" really means "doesn't actually fit anybody" because the proportions are idealized rather than reflecting any individual's actual body shape.

I'm just short of six feet tall and heavy. I can find women's clothes that are tall sizes, or plus sizes, but never both.

I've decided that the relationship between sizing and fit is almost completely random.
