I was going for a ride this afternoon, but then got the tornado/severe thunderstorm warning emails... All hell broke loose like 20 mins later.

    Yee-ha.
Got the powah back on after 14+ hours today. Neighbor with a generator let us run an extension cord (actually, 3) over to our fridge to keep it cold.
That makes 3 significant (read: >12 hour) power outages at our house in 2010 alone.
Came theeeees close to riding in to work this morning. If I had, that morning storm blew up with such speed - blossomed like a psycho flower...we watched it grow on doppler radar (until the power went out) - would have caught me out in the worst of it. It would not have been pleasant. Or safe. As it was, I called up and said, "Uh, I'm gonna be late today." and then never showed up. We had a parade of cars through the 'hood - refugees off the main drags outside our neighborhood, looking for ways around the back ups (sorry..there was none). Roads were like parking lots all day with powerlines down and trees down all around us.
    Hopefully, tomorrow will be better!

Had to get around this on this morning's ride. It's across Sligo Creek Parkway at Colesville Rd. Fortunately, easy to navigate around it (I assumed the power to that light was dead!).
Otherwise...lots of debris across the roads, had to bunny-hop some caution tape...but not too bad. I think most of the homes I went by had power.

I was out running yesterday morning as the skies turned black and the thunder and lightening started. I got home and had just closed my front door when the deluge started. It was all sunny by the time I headed off to work; took me 1.5 hours to drive a normally 30 minute commute (and an hour to get home)

Regina, how's the generator shopping going?
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

My poor niece is in Silver Spring, lost her power for 5 days at the last storm, then lost it again once it was barely on, and now hasn't had power since yesterday AM. She's ready to move back to Pittsburgh at this point!

A former co-worker of mine had to commute from Ellicott City to Bethesda and it took her 4 hr and 15 min yesterday morning. UGH!
