Where do you put your stuff?!
I'm taking up running/walking (at this point more walking) as a supplement to the cycling.
I want to at least carry my keys, a few dollars, and a cell phone with me. Water is helpful, but not strictly necessary--there's a Starbucks, a grocery store, and another coffeeshop on my route. I don't really want to be carrying a giant bag around, but women's athletic clothing never seems to have pockets for even the basics.
What do you do?
At least I don't leave slime trails.

On less than 10K runs I only carry id (Road ID on my wrist) and my house key (in the mini-pocket of my shorts).
Over 10K I am likely to have a fuel belt (which has a little pocket) or a hand-held water bottle (also with a pocket). I will then carry a bus ticket and/or my credit card, and a gel or two depending on the distance. I also have a skin-tight Sugoi top that has a small pocket at the back.
For me a cell phone is totally overkill because I run within a city or urban trails only. The weight of it would be unpleasant, bouncing around.
If the run is long enough I have to carry water, I carry my cell phone, ID, and a credit card. I usually run from home when someone else is home (and we have a garage door opener with a keypad so I don't need a key), but if I run from work/my car, I do have to carry some keys. If I am carrying water, I put the keys wherever the water is (and only carry the minimum). If not, I wear shorts with pockets, or my spi belt.
Sometimes I do run in a bike jersey (especially if I ride then run), and the pockets come in handy, but I can't exactly stuff them because the stuff bounces more.

I don't carry much, as my runs are short. I put my house key in the little pocket of my shorts or I tie the key to the shoe laces of my shoes if I'm wearing shorts without a pocket. I usually wear a cycling jersey also for running and my mp3 player goes in the jersey pocket. If I'm not wearing a jersey with a pocket I hold the mp3 player in my hand or strap it to my arm. I don't usually need anything else for runs of up to an hour. I don't bother with a cell phone as I'm never more than a couple of miles from home, I just let BF know which route I'm taking and when to expect me back.

I have a SpiBelt for short runs.
I tried running with my stuff in the pocket of a cycling jersey once. It wasn't a duathlon, really, just an untimed bike tour plus 5K fun run. My stuff was bouncing EVERYWHERE and it actually fell out of my pocket once - I had to carry it in my hand.
I don't run without ID, insurance card, organ donor card and phone. Not even a 5-mile out and back (around the block is 7.5 miles minimum). Normally I'll file a "flight plan" with DH as well. If I got punted into the ditch it could be days before anyone found me. Even a simple sprained ankle would be a long and painful walk that would aggravate the injury.
I just got a smartphone, and while I love it, I'm going to have to do something else for running. It's just too heavy for the SpiBelt. Either a heavier belt or set up my old phone on a prepaid account. Probably the latter - I'm talking about sharing it with DH so that he has a phone that actually works consistently as a phone, in addition to his iPhone.![]()

When I run from work, all I carry is my key fob thingy for my car. It fits nicely in the pocket on the back of my running capris. I've left it hidden under my car once or twice when I had NO pockets as well. I wear a road ID and I don't bother with my cell.
If I'm running for an hour or more, I carry a water belt and that has a small pocket in which I could put other stuff.
When I run from home, I also file a flight plan with my H including route, timing and such. Running in the country scares me, so I'm extra careful. I still don't bother with my cell though - since it only works half the time out there anyway.
I did get something like this for christmas intended for my ipod (mine is all neoprene and it is a bit smaller) - but since I don't listen to music when I run, I haven't used it. It would be good for keys/cell though... Maybe I should break it out and put it to use.

I carry one of these water bottle holders on every run. That's all I used for my marathon (kept refilling) and I always run with it so that I'm used to carrying it. Keeps ID, money, key, small phone, and some Nuun and candy. Plus...good training to not throw the hands out to catch a fall![]()
