    Life is precious.

The last few days have seemed like a horrible dream. The 36 year old daughter and 4 year old grandson of our very close friends were involved in a freak auto accident Saturday night. They hit a horse at the crest of a hill at 9:30 pm. The daughter died of severe head trauma and the grandson suffered mild injuries and will recover. We had all just spent the evening at another friends' daughter's wedding reception and had a wonderful time. They were on their way home and she had just spoken to her husband and told him what a great time they'd had and that she would see him in a few minutes. Little did we know that none of us would ever speak to her again. We just returned from the visitation and the funeral is tomorrow.

This is so tragic. She leaves her husband, a 4 year old son, sisters, brother, parents, aunts, uncles and many, many friends. Too often we take our relationships with our loved ones for granted. Tell the special people in your life how you feel about them and if you have relationships that need mending, try to fix them. We may never get another chance. This may be our last day on this earth so make the most of it. Life is precious.

Your story said it all, Bike Chick. It must have been a terrible shock to everyone.

I'm so sorry to hear about your tragic news. I, myself, received news of an unexpected and sudden death of a friend last week. He died of a massive heart attack while on vacation.

Life really is fleeting, so you really do need to make most of every day and every relationship.

None of us have a guarantee that we'll see the sun come up tomorrow morning. Every day, every hour, that we have with our family and friends is a gift from God, and we should use them appropriately.

I'm so sorry for your friend's loss.

Your post brought tears to my eyes, Bike Chick. I lost my father in a tragic accident as well, so everything you said rang absolutely true with me. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

Wow, so sorry to hear about your friend's daughter - how sad. Makes all our little troubles seem so insignificant when you hear about this type of tragedy.

The funeral was yesterday and it still feels like a bad dream.

Thank you everyone for your warm thoughts and prayers. This is the third funeral we've had in the last five weeks; two of them were sudden and unexpected deaths. It does put things in perspective.

Nothing could be harder than a sudden death of a mom with a 4 year old. Such a tender age and not quite fully understanding the implications of what is going on but knowing it is something awful. So sorry for your loss! so very sad.
