Some of you know, I lost my Big Kitty (of 25 years) in January.
It seems that Big Kitty gave the word out to the neighborhood cause about a week and a half ago, a small beautiful black kitty decided to adopt our home.
We have tried to find his owners but to no avail. So, I guess he is ours now. I took him to the vet and he is a fixed male, with no medical issues and is probably about 3 years old. He is perfect except that he likes to get on the kitchen counters, but we can deal with that. He is very loving and likes to lay on my lap early in the morning.
He seems to like the house more than outdoors, but so far has not used the catbox, but likes to go outdoors.
I'll get a picture on here when I get a chance. It is very nice to have a kitty around the house again!
Congratulations on your new family member!

Isn't that incredible when this happens? I lost my giant schnauzer a month shy of his forth birthday to cancer. He was my heart dog....
Funny thing is that our current dog was dropped off at the breeders the same day as we put Milo down. A week later, the breeder (my friend) called to tentatively ask if we'd be interested in him. He had some behavioral issues (mostly due to the previous owners inability to handle a very dominate dog) and she wanted someone who she knew could handle him. We said yes, and we've now had him for almost 6 yrs. He certainly would have been put down had he gone anywhere else. He came really close to it even at my house. A 90 lb dog who bites is rough. Turns out, he had thyroid issues along with the behavioral. once we got this corrected, the behavioral ones where easier to deal with. 6 yrs later, no one would believe how naughty he was when we got him.
I truly believe that our first giant schnauzer led our second one here because he knew that he would be taken care of...
Enjoy your new kitty. Sometimes it is not easy when you get a new pet so close to when a loved pet passes, but it is worth it in the end!
His name is Jag - short for Jaguar cause that's what he looks like. I gave Mark a couple of names to chose from Jag, Shadow (cause he follows us around like a dog) or Amazon. Mark picked Jag so Jag it is!
that's the best kind, when they adopt YOU. I'm sure Big Kitty had something to do with it!![]()
I got my kitty Tortilla about six weeks after losing my miniature schanuzer Maggie. The home was lonely and so was our other schnauzer. Tortilla is a manx and DH wasn't ready for a new pet but he knew I loved manx cats so he gave in and took me to the shelter to see her. Funny thing is she is like Maggie. When I would have a bad day and be crying Maggie would come nuture me. Tortilla does the exact same thing. And of course Heidi (the other dog) really livened back up with a companion. So yep, I believe our dearly loved animals bring us the right one to help us heal.
Enjoy Jag, we need pictures!![]()

Our Chase was chasing DS on his bike around our driveway just over a year after our Gus passed-away. Chase has a LOT of funny personality quirks and a similar meow to Gus. I think it was definitely fated that he should find us. We didn't even look for his "owners," since a half-grown, un-neutered kitten shouldn't have been left to wander. Now Chase is content to stay indoors and be the runty boss of the other cats (or so he thinks).
All of our cats have found us. We joke that we have "sucker" on our foreheads in invisible text that only cats can read.

Congratulations. Sounds like a smart cat.
You know the phrase, when a door closes a window opens. Our Sparky passed back in October and I was pretty certain we would not get another dog unless something strange happened. Well, something did. I was hanging out with people I don't usually hang with, and one person mentioned how she had a friend who was having her dog put down the next day. Frodo is an Aussie/border collie mix, and there had been some behavioral problems because he had been in a house where he tried to herd the small children, and then he was in his next house with a person who has a corporate job and didn't have time for him. After some begging and pleading on my part to the DH I got my dog, and he is wonderful for our family. He doesn't try to herd 6'4" children! I'm so glad I saved his life!
