They are the same shoe as the Genius but the sole is lugged and many people use btb shoes for the same reason as you.

I'm only a roadie - but I decided many years ago that I prefer recessed cleats. So I always wear mountain bike shoes... And in my experience the Sidi Doms are great for road biking.

Three places you should never scrimp - shorts, shoes, gloves. The contact points need the best thing for that body part's health and happiness. Tell him, it will lessen the whimper factor.

You could always blame us! Tell him TE made you do it!! As for MTB shoes in road bikes: it's all I wear when I commute. I do have a pair of road shoes which I wear when I"m doing long distances (re: don't get off the bike much if at all) but for short commutes or anything that involves a lot of clipping in and out - MTB shoes all the way.

Just one more thing--since I'm going to have to order (LBS doesn't carry shoes), how do they run size-wise? I wear 7 1/2 to an 8. I can't decide between a 39.5 and a 40. Any of you very wise and wonderful ladies have a suggestion? Thanks bunches!!!

I wear a 5 1/2 to a 6 - usually a 6 - and my Sidi's are a size 38. They run very small. Just for comparison purposes, I wear Merrell shoes off the bike, and those shoes are a size 36.

I would imagine that wherever you buy the shoes will be familiar with the sizing. It might be worth ordering over the phone (as opposed to the web) so you can check with a person. Oh - I just checked the TE site, and they have the shoes + they have a size chart on this page: http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=18173. (Based on what you're saying, I suspect you've already seen that chart... my own experience would suggest to go with the larger size, but of course I have no idea whether that will be right for your feet!)

Thanks, Denise, I think you're right. I had looked at the sizing chart, and it's still sorta vague. I'm thinking of ordering the 39.5 and the 40 and then send one pair back. I'll call TE when I order instead of online. They are so very helpful.......

I do not know if you have found any yet. I picked up a pair of dominator mountain shoes from Bicycle Village in Littleton Colorado (really Denver address) for around $100. They had a number of sizes for both road and mountain. I was in there last week and they still have a table full of these shoes, all 2004 and 2005 models.
