SOOO, if I buy a decent new dryer here, and haul it up there, I could probably sell it on Craig's list or something without too much loss (well, not give it away), if I wind up in an all-electric house. OK, more to think about while I'm hunting for a new dryer tomorrow. Sigh. I need to do laundry.

Moving. Oy vey. At least the job comes with relocation, so there will be packers and movers. Keeping the house presentable for selling will be fun.

Congratulations! Can't begin to tell you how jealous I am.

Our W/D in Seattle were electric but we could have run gas if we really wanted to.

If you are bringing those appliances with you and they are under warranty or if you bought a service plan, you may just want to double-check that those will transfer with you. Otherwise it might just be a good idea to wait and see what the situation is where you decide to live and buy locally if you need to.

Congratulations! I know you've been waiting a while.

As for the dryer, why don't you just go to a laundromat until then?

    YAY!

    Welcome to the PNW!

My apartment has washer and dryer (and fireplace). They are electric. (well, the fireplace is real)

I don't know if it would really be worth it to buy a dryer to use there for the next 4 weeks, and then move it up here. Most newer rentals in my area come with washers and dryers. It's just a bit too damp for line-drying most of the year, so they are pretty much necessities.

Hey, need an apartment? PM me, I know a nice apartment complex...

Congratulations, Beth! Welcome to the PNW. Most of the newer homes tend to have electric hook-up. Condo and townhomes are usually electric, too. The older homes are a toss up between the two, sometimes they have the option for both. Can you pick up a used dryer while you're there that you can leave with the house? If you have to sell the new one, you'll probably take a bigger hit.

Notice the winky-wink smiley, ladies. I was just giving you a hard time!

Trust me, I know about geographic limitations related to employment. Having a spouse's career to consider makes it all the more complicated if you want to apply for an assignment in another city/country/state. It's a non-starter in my situation, unless we have a long distance marriage for the duration of the assignment (not gonna happen---he's my best friend and love).

It will be exciting to move to a new place and discover all the neat things you've been wanting to see and do. After 20 years back in MA, I have been saying that I still haven't seen and done everything I want to do here.

Welcome to our gorgeous Pacific NW. I hope you will love it once you get here and get settled in. Excellent timing - -best part of the year is late summer/early fall. Glad you are used to rain, however!

I have the last bit of paperwork ("travel orders"), so now I can call the local Navy base travel office to arrange a date for the movers.

    Dates are getting close.

I'm jealous. Knott will be down here soon, we'll be painting the bathroom (oh what fun ), talk to my realtor, see if I can sell the condo. I think I can now.
