Just helping to get the word out about a new 1/2 iron distance tri on August 15th. My DH is co-race director of this 1st year event, so I thought I'd put in a plug here.

It's in Lac La Belle, Michigan (for anyone familiar with the U.P., that's in the Keweenaw Peninsula, way up on the Northeast side). It's beautiful! Swim in Lac La Belle, bike a single loop - about 23 miles of it by Lake Superior, and an awesome partly paved, partly dirt road run. Miles from civilization! The bike course goes through a couple of teeny towns, but otherwise mostly trees, water, and scenery.

Kuparisaari means "Copper Island" in Finnish. The stress is on the first syllable.
