I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves cheese, especially the melted on buttery bread variety Around here there's a cupcake truck, a pizza truck, and now the grilled cheese truck. My uncle was talking about doing some kind of mobile food business and we thought crazy donuts would be fun. The breakfast crowd is an ignored group in the mobile food industry! Or my idea of the ice cream truck. Not crappy bars, but real hard ice cream and you make sundaes. That'd be supreme.

The 2 a.m. truck would have both cupcakes and grilled cheese. Creeping through the neighborhood like the ice cream trucks, playing "Sugar Magnolia" on a music box - not too loud so as not to bother the sober citizens. Customers would stagger out of their houses like a cross between the Pied Piper of Hamelin and Night of the Living Dead.

We have soup trucks and almost every other kind of food cart/truck you can imagine. There's even a food court type place downtown that has them lined up. You can pick an appetizer, main course, and dessert from different ones. And we're a bicycle friendly city. Just saying......

OMG, a cupcake truck? Thank goodness there are no cupcake trucks in my neck of the woods or I'd be doomed. Doomed, I tell you!

(When I was in college, the local quickie mart had a sandwich called the 'birdman' which was turkey, chicken and tons of other unknown crap that was consumed in large quantities by drunk college kids at 2 am. Said quickie mart got smart and got a truck and parked said truck outside of college parties and made a KILLING on us. Reminded me of the sausage vendors in downtown Boston - also making a killing when the bars closed. Oh the brilliant things we would eat when young and drunk...)

You know what, Zen, if I could retire at full pension right now, I might take you up on that offer. There are a lot of locations where you could make a mint, i.e., business parks w/no really good options for lunch, unless you want to drive.

I'm surprised so many people are overlooking the pizza truck. It's a truck with an oven in the back and they make the pizza on the spot. I think that's pretty sweet. But I also have access to a brick oven, so it's not exactly a novelty to me. There are a whole bunch of Mexican vendors around the corner from work, but these other trucks are aiming for a slightly higher-end clientele. The cupcakes aren't run-of-the-mill cupcakes, but gourmet creations. It wasn't normal grilled cheese, it was a special blend of cheeses one normally wouldn't use in such a sandwich. I guess that's the new thing, gourmet food on the go.

And the good news for me is every one I have had has been dried out and not so good. I tried 3 different types, 3 different trailers. I gave up, it is how they make them. Thank goodness since I have a weakness for cupcakes!
