Talk about starting out! I joined a womens only team for racing, did my first crit ever was involved in a crash ( that I didn't cause!) And fractured my elbow, and totally planning on racing again when I'm healed!! The hardest part is dealing with the setback. Any advice??

I fractured my elbow this past fall. What bone in the elbow is it? You will probably be confined to the trainer for the next 8 weeks.

I had 12 weeks until I could use my left arm on the bars. You have to be careful not to pull it farther apart(I did in the first 3 weeks, hence the 12 weeks for me because I wasn't able to stop trying to ride)

I fractured my wrist in a crash in March. 11 weeks on the trainer before it was strong enough to go out on the road again. But even on the trainer it was very uncomfortable when I was in the cast, so I focused on intervals-- quick 30 min high intensity workouts.

I hope you feel better soon! I shattered my radial head (not cycling though) and it took a long time to heal, I still don't have full range of motion or full strength in that arm. Hopefully yours isn't related to your radial head or if so hopefully isn't too bad!! I would just make sure you get to PT quickly and work on strengthening!

I just joined here and am just getting into road biking! I think it is great that you know you want to get back on your bike and race again! I always get scared that I will break something again but I also feel like I can't stop doing the things that I love! So I will continue to bike, hike, run, etc and just hope that I don't have any major injuries again!

    Feel better soon!!
