I got home from work last night, watered the animals and then changed into running clothes. I took a new route up my road which starts with a 0.5 mile hill (no time for warm-up!). There was no shade and it was 94F when I left. I had water with me, but my plans were to only run 1.5 miles out and then turn around. I made it to 1.75 miles before I made a u-turn and ended with a 3.5 mile run that took me 45 minutes. I actually felt fine while running and I took a walk around our property as my 'cool down'. When I got back inside, I immediately returned my husband's call (he's out of town) and I almost passed out while on the phone with him. I saw myself in a mirror and was shocked - I was beet red (unusual for me) and SOAKING wet - everywhere. We have no AC, so it took me a bit to cool down using wet towels and a fan. Luckily, our water comes out of the ground quite cold, so it was refreshing, but ugh.

I hate heat. Today I'm swimming instead - it's supposed to hit 100F. Yuck.

I think we've had 2 days over 80F this year and then we get hit with this. Oy. I guess I can't complain - it could be worse...I could still live on the east coast.
Yuck! As for being beet red and soaking wet, that is most definitely NOT unusual for me! When I run in warm weather I always end up soaked in sweat and looking (and feeling) like I am about ready to spontaneously combust! I wonder why it is that some of us turn more red than others.
