Riding at sunrise is awesome. I might have to do it tomorrow, because it's so hot.

Had a beautiful 25 mile ride this morning that started before sunrise. More trucks than I expected to see on a holiday morning - and I mean 18-wheelers (2 of them), and several huge landscaping type trucks. I have NEVER seen an 18-wheeler on "my" country roads, but they got way over in the other lane and it was fine.
Saw lots of animals, and just had a great time!

Ooh, sounds like fun. I'm taking the day off, as my quads are killing me.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

It was a lot of funI will do this again, and try to get out even earlier so I can get a taste of night-riding. I am an early-bird by nature, so that is much safer for me than staying out late.
I had planned a 16 mile ride for today, but it's been rainy all day and I don't do rain. Darn it, this is going to put me behind in my goals for the week, but maybe I can find a way to make up the mileage somehow.![]()
OP, your sunrise ride sounds great, except for those passing big rigs.![]()

Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
Today is our anniversary.
Being old married farts, and not into romantic candle light dinners, we did what fits our life as a couple: We spent the morning doing a holiday N2 special ride, went home, had lunch, loaded the kayaks and went to a friend's house in Annapolis to do some kayaking. Picked up some take out on the way home, opened a bottle of wine, and had dinner in our sweaty beach clothes before unloading the kayaks and showering again.
Now...we're sitting and watching the tour.
And such is our life!![]()

Had to scratch my planned ride today - I put out my back helping my mom with some gardening yesterday. It's not serious - but enough that I'd rather not be on bike for a day or two.![]()

We got a short 15 mile ride in with friends yesterday morning. I'm so excited because our training buddy's wife is now starting to ride and is going with us a couple times a week. We threw some hills in the ride yesterday and she was struggling but she hung in there and was smiling at the end. It seems like yesterday I was the beginner and I remember too well how it feels to be in her saddle![]()

Already posted yesterday's ride in the HotHotHot thread.![]()
I rode to the gym at the hottest part of the day (my class started at 4:30 p.m.), taught step aerobics/stability ball, rode back home. Brought my 2-liter Camelbak with ice and Nuun. After my class I was feeling bonk-ish and knew I'd have to get something to eat before I got home. So I stopped at a convenient store. Honestly, the Live Bait resembled food more closely than what they had in the "human" aisles, but I just wasn't in the mood for mealworms, so I got a peanut candy bar. That helped some, but even so, the trip back home is a net uphill and into the wind (admittedly a light wind, but still 91°), and I just couldn't face that second-to-last hill. So I hopped onto the highway for a little over a mile instead of going the back way. 29 miles RT.
Today I spent most of the day in and out of the car, marking roads for the tour our club is co-sponsoring a week from Saturday.
I don't know what it's going to take for me to acclimate to these temperatures for running. The wind I generate just by moving the bike makes all the difference in the world...

I actually did a really nice ride for July 5. On Friday (July 2) a friend talked me into doing an "epic" mountain bike ride, 33 miles. I did OK. She then suggested we do another ride, Cook's Corner to Old Camp. She told me it wouldn't be harder than Friday's ride so I agreed to meet her early Monday. The weather was perfect - cool and overcast. Very unlike July here in So. Calif. We rode up into the mist and although the sun peeked through here and there, it never came out.
For me that was a good thing. This ride was a goodly climb. Some very steep, technical sections. What made it harder is the fact alot of the time the trail was singletrack right on the edge of a drop-off. My vertigo kicked in - alot! Just some times I had to walk 'cause I had trouble riding so close to dropping off into outer space.
Anyway we made it up and back in one piece. I thought I most likely wouldn't do the ride again but now want to, if the weather stays cool (it even rained today!). The distance was short (11 miles) but it was enough for me. I'm back on the road tonight. It might not be safer but at least I don't have cliffs to drop off of!

I have had no ride today as I tried clipless last night, fell off, and injured myself. In a world of pain right now as I did the splits the way it shouldn't be possible to do, overextending my knee and hip in the process. Very painful.
I miss my bike.
