    Question Infinit users

As I start my training for the brevet, I am trying several different sports drinks for the longer/hot rides. I have tried Accelerade (liked it), Perpeteum (liked it, but the Accelerade was better). I would also like to try Infinit. Heed seems fine for my shorter rides, it seems to get the job done without being too sweet/or overly strong flavoring.

Several here told me about Infint some months ago. Just wondering if you are still using it/liking it. I don't want to spend any more than I have to, but the Infinit seems worth the experiment.

If you use it, did you take advantage of the phone consultation or just start with one of their stock blends and tweak it?

I've been using Infinit for quite a while. It's still the best for me. I don't like strong flavors on long rides and runs. Infinit is the only one that lets me dial down the flavor but keep the calories and electrolytes.

They didn't have the phone consultation option when I first started to use it. So I used the custom blend sliders and tweaked it over time. I discovered that I can't run on a formula with protein, but biking is OK. I ordered the smaller package until I found a blend that worked, then I ordered the larger ones.

The powder doesn't seem so expensive to me. It's not much more than Perpetuem. It's the shipping cost that gets me.

I am the same way with strong flavors, the harder I am working/thirstier I get the less tolerance my body has with strong flavors. Right now I am just using single-serving packages until I decide which to go with.

I've been reading elsewhere of those who use nothing but Infinit for mountain bike races that last over 24 hours. Not that I mountain bike, or that everyone would do such a race solely on liquid nutrition, but that does say something for the stuff if you get the mix right.

Thanks for your opinion, I am going to give this a shot but thought it would be interesting to read of others experiences. I know there are other products out there that I can try, but am cutting it off at three

I'm still using it - and using it for the 24-hour stuff and brevets. I still get the empty-tummy hungry feeling after a few hours, but a few crackers, pringles or pretzels stop that, and the rest of my nutrition comes from the Infinit. I was planning on using the sliders for my blend, but they called me to help me dial it in. Totally worth it.

BTW, I have four blends I use - protein for long stuff, non-protein for shorter rides, both with and without caffeine.

I used it for a short while, back in 2008 when I was training for 2 triathlons. I ordered a custom blend (very mild flavor, no protein, slightly lower sodium) in the fruit punch flavor. I thought the taste was okay, but the one thing that kind of bugged me was that when I would add the water to the mix...it would get "foamy"...like soap bubbles on top. Sort of grossed me out, because every time I'd see the foam, I'd think I was drinking soapy water...and then my mind would tell me that it was tasting like soap. Weird, I know...what can I say?

Anyway...I haven't used the stuff since then. Infact, I still have an almost full bag of it sitting in my cupboard. Wonder if it's any good now?

Thanks for the comments in Infinit - I think that I need to try this, and am going to talk with them about it before choosing my blend. Glad to hear that it is good for brevets and other endurance events as this is exactly what I have in mind to use it for.

That's funny - I just read some FAQ's and the owner said that they could add something to prevent the foaming, but prefer not to add unnecessary chemicals. It's never bothered me, so I agreed - but now I see that it really could bother folks. Who knew!

I wonder if you've got enough protein in your blend? I've learned that when I get that feeling, it means I'm not getting enough protein. I really don't like to use soy protein (and whey is worse for me), but if I need to, I can go all day on Perpetuem and never get that feeling. (But I will get it if I eat only the protein-deficient solid foods that are usually offered on organized rides.)
