    Smile cause for celebration

we finally got back yesterday, from the festivities in Santa Barbara, CA after being delayed by my FIL's blood sugar bottoming out and having to spend the day in the ER instead of flying home.

The Ph.D. graduation of my oldest son and his finacee was very colorful and gratifying. He got his in math and Jai Nee (Janie) got hers in linguistics. Her parents, her sister and two of her aunties flew in from Korea for the graduation and wedding and since our Korean is at a very baby level (son and husband) and non existent (myself, my other son and his partner, and my daughter) we spent a lot of time bowing and nodding and smiling.

The wedding was also lovely, in an outdoor garden/park setting with the fishpond in the background and the officiating lay ministeress, also one of Janie's graduated advisors, looking like a 9 year old in comparison to Richard (6'5'' and Janie 6'1") and all of the guests fellow graduates or graduate students except for the family. A superb and very festive reception at Sea Grass resaurant after and then several days of sightseeing with various combinations of parents, kids etc.

We signed on the new house yesterday, and today my FIL, who is moving in with us, and I are sitting quietly in one spot while the packers pack us out. DH is at work, 16 moves in our marriage and he has never been involved, but I love him anyway, and I keep having to jump up and rescue the five or six boxes and several items which are marked with red spots, meaning keep your hands off. Gotta love have a packing crew with a different language but they speak Portugese, and that is one of the few languages, along with Korean, that I have not a smattering of.

Tomorrow we move bag and bundle to the new house 20 miles north and Saturday we start unpacking and rescue the three cats and the two dogs from the kennels. I will have to spend mon-wed doing final clean out of this place, getting things connected and I am sure that the animals are planning to have nervous fits all over the place, 2 weeks in the kennels, three cats and one dog meeting the other for the first time- at least it will be new territory for all of them.

I am desperate to ride and get back to training, maybe 4th of July weekend if only around the neighborhood to scope out the scene.

In the meantime, although hectic, it is all good. I love the house and haven't lived in one I could call my own for almost 40 years so its definitely cause to celebrate.

Wow, you have so much to celebrate! I know you are eager to get settled and return to some sense of normalcy. Hopefully you'll be unpacked soon and will be able to relax and enjoy your new home as you watch the fireworks off in the distance. Congratulations to you and your family.
