I just saw the video- how fun. What a great video for Maidei's debut into the US. I was smiling the entire time. And thank you Mike, too.

Handoff to Skibum, June 23, 2010. Can't wait to ride "Bike Virginia" and start my journey to the Mid-Atlantic and NE!

Always great to see where Maidei visits. Glad you recovered too skinmini!

Way cool skinimini! Atlanta looks like an interesting place.
I do have one odd question..I expected your accent to be stronger being from the Southern US..Are you a long time Atlantan or a recent addition?
I look forward to listening to more accents![]()
I really had fun with Maidei and I was so lucky that my bike buddy Mike loves to take videos. I only wish I had been able to do a bike handoff to skibum--I looked OK in the pic, but I have never been as sick as I was this past Wed. DH actually had to drive me to handoff.
As for Southern accent--I think I have a very strong accent. Raised in Alabama, college in Virginia (maybe those yankees from across the Mason-Dixon line had a little effect on me), and Atlanta for the past 24 years. Southern through and through!
I just watched the video and looked at the pics. I loved it. What a great idea and I'm so glad you are feeling better.

There was an emergency and Madei had to come home early from Bike Virginia. Don't Worry! Everyone's okay!
Tomorrow she's scheduled to go on a tour around Richmond, Virginia, and then she will pack her bags to go....where?
She was hoping to happen upon some other TEers at Bike Virginia, but that didn't happen (they are still there, Madei and tulip are not). So....if there is anyone within 50 miles of Richmond, let me know. Otherwise, I'll send her by mail to one of the DC-area TE crowd.
Anyone? Anyone?
Any DC-area folks heading to the Northern Neck of Virginia for 4th of July by any chance? Opportunity for a handoff, and a small town parade, great bike rides, fireworks over the water...
What's the word? Anyone know where Maidei is?

Uh, yeah. Madei is still in Richmond awaiting her next assignment. She's trying to keep cool and will post her photos from the Chesapeake Bay and Richmond later today.
She's a traveling gal at heart and would like to hit the road soon. But so far no one has responded to her request for accommodations in parts unknown.
Well, you could mail her up here, if there's no takers in the mid-Atlantic.

You can send her to me, and I'll take her on a DC tour. No video, though.

Maidei did not get to participate in Bike Virginia as planned, but she did get to go to the Chesapeake Bay and take a very hot tour of Richmond.
Since I have no idea how to post images inline, I'll just do separate posts.
Hanging out on the deck, catching crabs in the crabpots, admiring the garden.
Taking a rest in the shade next to the new part of the Virginia Capital Trail between Richmond and Williamsburg.
Overlooking the James River. That was quite a climb up that hill on a hot day!
Who knew? The Statue of Liberty is in Virginia?
A rest in the shade with a view of the former cigarette factories (now neat loft condos and apartments) and the city skyline. It was a very hot and hazy day.
A visit to Richmond would not be complete without a Civil War monument.
Maidei is off to the suburbs of Washington, DC tomorrow. Hopefully it will be cooler.
