Wife's first bike, build is complete, time to ride!

Not her first bike ever but her first "real bike".

I ride and also take the kids with me and now we can ride as a family. She expressed interest in riding so I went about building the nicest bike I could on my budget. For the same price as the lowest BikesDirect option I was able to build this for her.

Now that she has a bike she can be proud of I hope she catches the "riding bug", maybe even do Saturday Club rides...

Thanks for all the information on the forum I explored to find a good fit and function.

wow, beautiful paint job! That saddle might be a problem for longer rides though.

Sorry, you might not be seeing this pic, I'll attach it differently.

It is a Scattante XRL Cross with 105 group, Mavic Helium wheels and the saddle is a Fizik Vitesse. She initially found it more comfortable than the Terry Fly so we'll see how it goes in the long term.

As fro the Mixte, it went to a very happy college girl who was getting into riding with her friends, so I was happy to send it off to make a new vintage bike convert.

Yeah, as much as I like the bike I'm leaving it up to her to get in the saddle. A few short rides with the kids will be a good start. She's fit and likes to use the treadmill at the gym so she'll be up to speed in no time if she enjoys it.

The red bling is gorgeous! You gave me an idea for a little additional blue bling if I can find it...

Gorgeous bike and sweet for you to do for her! My husband prodded me a bit into road biking - though I was very hesitant and stubbornly wanted a hybrid - but we have been having such a ball riding together!

Thanks for the compliments. I'm still tempted to get red anodized headset spacers once I fine tune the fit.

She suggested a ride next week. May drop the kids at Grandma's and have a just the two of us. There's also a little group at church that does an easy ride on Wednesdays. Might be fun and social.

    Very nice!

It will be nice to get a sitter and ride together. It's important to make time for yourselves. You were a couple before you were a family. Just don't pressure her too much.
