I don't live in CA but you might try Craigslist.com, your local police auctions, and charity shops ie Goodwill or Salvation Army. Sometimes you luck into good bikes that way. Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm helping a friend purchase her first road bike She wants to get a Trek that is 56cm. She can spend no more than $800. She lives in Chico, CA and I live in San Jose, CA. If you have a bike (or know someone that does) and live close to either area please contact me at teamsoares74@earthlink.net.
Thanks(= Robin

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
Thanks for the tips(= I did try Craig's List but there was nothing listed)= I'll keep checking(=
Just curious why she wants a Trek. In this price range, she might luck into something fantastic and used. Chico is a big bike community. She checking for used bikes up there?
