I always eat before any kind of workout. Depending on what I am doing I might start right away or wait up to an hour for the digestion to kick in. But if I don't have enough fuel in my engine to start with, I always get that "bonking" sensation. It might me psycological, but that is the way my body works.

I do not eat before my early runs ( 4:20 am), simply because I cannot tolerate the food in my stomach and I am NOT getting up earlier than that. I do try and gel before I go, that is about all I can handle.

I have to eat before I workout or bike. Real food, at least a small meal. My blood sugar plummets if I don't - not every time - but often enough that I have learned my lesson. As long as it isn't too hot that is not a problem, I am going to have to play it by ear since it has become so hot this quickly.

I don't remember who suggested the PB/Banana sandwiches, but they have quickly become a fav of mine before a really strenuous activity. I have my Cliff bars of course, but real food is a good thing (and I can only eat half of those at a time anyway). I have had one of these sandwiches for breakfast. Breakfast of Champions

I eat before working out, even if it's a snack. If I get up really early to ride, then I have to force myself to eat something--a small bowl of cereal, a yogurt. I take my Clif bars or the shot blocks with me.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

If I'm up after 5 a.m., I'll eat something - a banana or cereal bar, before training. But anytime before that I'm too nauseous to eat anything so I just drag a gel out with me on the bike for when I feel a bit better.
