    Question Standover Height

I'm 4'10" and have had an awful time finding a new bike. I'm looking at a Trek 7.5 WSD with a 13" frame. I rode it briefly and felt comfortable, but I have no clearance over the (sloping) bar. I'm far from an aggressive rider. Am I taking my life in my hands if I get this bike?

You'll be fine on that frame. If it was a mountain bike or a cyclocross, I'd say you have to have an inch or two of standover at least.

But for a road or hybrid bike, not having standover is fine. I'm 5'1 and the only bike that I really have some standover on is my mountain bike.

Agree, standover is really not a big deal on a road bike. I touch mine flat footed in socks and have never had a problem. Mountain bike on the other hand is a whole different ball game.
