Join Me In a 80-85 Mile Ride on Sunday?

I don't feel like driving 46 miles north to Magnuson Park tomorrow to ride in this weekends CATS ride but I need to get my long weekend ride in . . . . . so . . . . . I thought I would do my own ride closer to my home. I'm thinking of doing the 45 mile loop of the Headwater Century and adding 40 miles to this loop by riding up to Greenwater and back. I'll probably be cruising between 16-18 mph. If you want to join me tomorrow send me a message by tonight.

Geez that would have been perfect! I wish I wasn't working today, because I would have taken you up on that offer. I was looking ahead to next Saturday's CATS ride and the weather looks rainy I don't know when I'm going to get another long distance ride in with this stupid weather!

Yes what's up with this weather? I hate it! It sure is making training and riding difficult. I was watching the weather report this evening and it looks like tomorrow is going to be the nicest day of the week. I hope you can get a ride in tomorrow Jessica. And as far as the CATS ride this coming Memorial Day weekend I won't be able to make it. I'm going to Spokane to see my son. The next CATS ride for me will be the June 19th ride. On June 5th I'm doing the 100 mile Peninsula Metric, and on the following weekend, June 12th I'm doing the 100 mile Flying Wheels Summer Century ride. Are you going to ride in this year's Flying Wheels Summer Century? Last year Joe and I did the 70 mile course. It was great. The scenery and country side is beautiful (I especially enjoyed the Carnation area) but there were a few steep hills to climb!

I don't know, but it's messing up my training! I didn't ride today, even though it was nice. My birthday is on Wednesday, and I'm working, so my husband and I decided to drive down to Portland today and hang out to celebrate. Did you manage to get a ride in after work? I will be doing the Flying Wheels ride, however, I haven't signed up for it yet and I don't know which route I'm going to do yet. I figure I can probably do the 70 mile route, but I'm not sure if I want to push myself more and do the 100. I may decide closer to the ride. If I do the century, did you want to ride together? I'm trying to find the feet of climbing for the century, and I'm having difficulty. It sounds like it's about 5300 feet of climbing?

First let me give you an early "Happy Birthday" Jessica! Spending the day in Portland with your husband is a day well spent! Yes, I did get an after work ride in. I did my 84.17 mile ride over the weekend and then an easy ride yesterday afternoon. Now I'm wondering how I will get my long ride in this weekend as we are driving over to Spokane to visit our son Aaron for the Memorial Day weekend. You'll just have to ride double miles this weekend first for you and then for me!

If you do decide to ride 100 mile course I would love to ride it with you. The weekend before the Flying Wheels I'm going to ride the 100 mile course of the Peninsula Metric. This ride has over 7,000 feet of climbing so if I can finish the 100 mile Peninsula Metric I'm sure I will be able to do the 100 mile Flying Wheels course. The elevation for it is 3,840. This is according to CBC. The elevation gain information is posted at their site here: Elevation Gain for 100 mile loop.

So when will we get some nice stretches of sunny warm weather? My sister who lives in Burlington, Iowa told me yesterday on the phone that it is 95 degrees there with high humidity. She was expecting thunder storms last night. I won't take that temperature but something in between would be great. Like 75-80 degrees and blue skies and sunshine!

Aww thanks for the birthday wishes!!

Maybe when you're in Spokane you can do the Centennial trail that we had talked about before on here, I don't know how long it is or anything. And it didn't look like there was much climbing... But it's better than nothing With me working every other weekend, it's really hard to get in a long ride every week. Especially with this weather. I don't mind the temperature or anything, although I do love warm weather. But it's just been the threat of rain and the wind!

Oh yeah, you'll definitely be fine for Flying Wheels after the Peninsula! That sounds like a challenging ride! I'm watching the Giro right now, and they're on the stage where the last climb averages a 12% grade over 6 miles!!! I can't imagine...

Well, I'll let you know what route I decide... 3800ft, I think I can handle. However, right now the most miles I've ever done was 70, so I'm a little concerned. If I can do some long distance training rides in the interim, I should be fine... but if I don't get the chance, then I'll be hurting!!

Happy Birthday Jessica! Anything special planned for today?

I thought about the Centennial Trail but this weekend is all about visiting my son. We are leaving for Spokane early Saturday morning giving us most of Saturday and all day Sunday with him. We're driving back on Monday. A big family weekend together. Joe, our daughter Jackie, our son Aaron, and me. Maybe if we get back early enough on Monday I can get a short ride in? But with this awful weather pattern who knows if I'll even be able to ride! I've been going to gym on the rainy days but it's not the same. Trying to look on the brighter side (lol) at least I'm doing something.

12% grade! I can't even imagine either! Those guys are amazing.

Yes, let me know if you will be doing the 100 mile Flying Wheels. But don't push yourself and chance an injury! Listen to your body.

I actually had to work today. My husband was working too so I didn't bother requesting the day off. But it was an easy day at work. I'm training a student, so she did most of the work and we had patient's that didn't require a whole lot. When I woke up this morning, I was kind of regretting it, however! haha... Have fun this weekend! I think you're right on track riding wise, so taking one weekend off won't ruin your work.
