174.2 wrong way, wrong wayI must say that when I started this I think I was 179.? so thanks for keeping me focussed. I've briefly seen 160 on the scale. Wanna see it again and continue spiraling downward.

Read an article that suggested losing 10%, holding that for a few months to get your body re-aligned, then losing 10%...
I've never seen that suggestion before, but my body seems to agree, ever since I made that 10% mark, the weight loss has been painfully slow.

That seems so true. When I look at mydailyplate weight chart, I'll have 3-4 weeks where I drop weight. Then I'll have 2-3 weeks where I hold steady again. As I get closer to my goal weight, that "plateau" gets a little longer and a little longerBut that's weeks, not months.
My goal for this year was to get down to 160lbs. I'm hoping to reach that in August. After that, I want to maintain for 5-6 months. Then relook at my weight again in 2011 and possibly pursue further weight loss.
Losing weight, although a good thing, can be stressful on a body!

140 for me!

I did a "little bike ride" this weekend. http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=37908 I calculated that I burned in excess of 12,000 calories on that ride. I didn't weigh myself on Monday, but I did on Tuesday and was up SIX POUNDS. Today, I'm down SEVEN from last Friday, so it was obviously all water. Neither of these things surprised me.
Why do I mention it? Because I often read threads on these forums from people who fret about "gaining weight" after bike rides. Repairing muscles need lots of water to recover and rebuild. Just like me, your body will release that water when the job is done.
So - I'd recommend hiding your scale and weighing yourself just once a week. We are all going to fluctuate day to day. It's the long term trend in your weight that really matters, not the day to day bouncing around. Weighing yourself every day can easily discourage you. (I know from whence I speak - been there, done that.)
Nice work this week ladies!! Keep it up!!
BTW - Limewave, you're doing amazing!! How much are you down total since your daughter was born? Seems to me I recall you being over 200 then.
138.8 today. Not much of a change, but still in the right direction.
Susan, that's so true. After my 25k, I was up 2-3 pounds. And after an Adventure Race, forget it! I'm always up 5-8 pounds. I don't worry about it anymore because, as you mentioned, a day or two after that I'm back down. I figured it was water and maybe lactic acid and inflammation.
Anyways, I'm down quite a bit! I think about 35-40 pounds since May of last year when I had my son. I have a DD too, but she's 4.
I think around December of 2009 I had given up hope of getting my weight back down and I took most of my clothes to GoodWill. I am really regretting that now. I did hang on to my most favorite clothing items and its great to be wearing them again.
One of my goals is to fit into my wedding dress for our anniversary in mid-July. FYI, I did not have a traditional wedding. I wore a silk summer dress from Ann Taylor. I have one more size to go down and it will fit! I can already put it on and zip it up, it just pulls on the hips.

I'm holding. This has been the most stressful week of my life. And that stress is not going to go away anytime soon with our family in crisis. I'll just be happy to hold for now. but I'm not giving up.
